Bantay Kita: Workshops for Indigenous People
A Bantay Kita representative participated in the Voice Knowledge Exchange, along with IP women from Mindanao, as grantees of Voice Global. Having experienced the processes and witnessed the impact of these on the participants, Bantay Kita then requested for a similar workshop but this time focusing on their work with indigenous communities.
CHC developed a similar 3-day workshop but incorporated new activities such as Storytelling through Puppetry and a technical-workshop session specifically for Bantay Kita’s role in supporting indigenous communities understand the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) that enable them to take necessary actions.
Two workshops were held, one in Baguio – Indigenous Women Forum, and the another in Palawan – Indigenous Peoples Summit. Both tackled the challenges faced by indigenous communities specifically with their ancestral domains, rights, and knowledge systems.
